Indonesia is known as a country rich in species of seaweed. The most important components of seaweed are iodine and dietary fiber. Eucheuma cottoni is one species of seaweed that can be used as a source of iodine and dietary fiber. Iodine deficiency can cause several diseases also known as IDD (Iodine Deficiency Disorder), while deficiency of dietary fiber can cause some degenerative diseases. This research is taken to develop the utilization of Eucheuma cottoni as an ingredient in the making of jam and “dodol” (Indonesian traditional snack food).
The best ratio of seaweed and sugar for jam production was 37:63, while the best ratio of seaweed and glutinous flour in making dodol was 5:2. The addition of seaweed on jam and dodol formula increased their iodine and dietary fiber contents. The iodine content of jam and dodol was and Ã‚Âµg/g, respectively. The dietary fiber content of jam and dodol was and %, respectively.
The study aims to find secondary metabolites isolated from leave of pucuk merah (Syzygium Myrtifilium Walp). The method used is maceration, fractionation, column chromatography, thin layer chromatography and identified using Fourier Transform - Infra Red (FT - IR) and Gass Cromatography - Mass Spectroscopy (GC - MS). Phytochemical preliminary test of ethyl acetate fraction contained alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic and triterpenoids, while the results of phytochemical test against stains 2 ethyl acetate fraction showed a positive test result contains the alkaloid compounds and compounds phenolic. The results of the analysis using cluster bonding FT - IR emergence OH (Hydroksi), C - H (Aromatic), CH 3 (Aliphatic), and CO Ether, whereas the MS chromatograms obtained peak (peak) which have a similarity value above 90% according to database. estimates of the results of the analysis can be concluded that the stain 2 ethyl acetate fraction is estimated compound 2,4-di-tersier-butyl-fenol .
Curcuma mangga contains a lot of variety of active compound which use as traditional medicines. This research aimed to isolated and determinated the active compound of methanol extract Curcuma mangga rhizomes of ethyl acetate fraction and its rendemen. Amount of 1000 g Curcuma mangga rhizomes was macerated with methanol solvent at room temperature for 24 hours. Remaceration was done seventh times. Methanol extract was fractionated with ethyl acetate. About 39,05 g of concentrated ethyl acetate fraction was then separated by Column Chromatography. According to the similarity of UV-Vis spectra and GC-MS, active compound in methanol extract Curcuma mangga rhizomes ethyl acetate fraction is predicted as Labda-8(17),12-dien-15,16-dial with rendemen amount of 0,00149 %.
